Why your B2B website is not ranking on Google! - 5 reasons!
Most B2B websites fail on Google due to lack of authenticity, regularity, character, and the intention to provide value to as many people in their target pool, without the desperation of making them their customers in the first go!
Your B2B website can not rank on Google until you provide useful, authentic, and tested information and value to your audience. Every piece of content you add to your website should be backed with research and real experience. Google as a service provider wants to serve its users with information that most closely and accurately answers their question or solves their problem.
Okay, so why is your B2B business website not ranking on Google? Honestly, I can best answer this question after looking at your website (have me take a look), but if you are not yet ready for that, go through this blog and find out how many pointers talk about you, and you will have a good answer!

1. bad design
Whether it’s the founder minimizing the branding cost or the marketing manager cutting corners on design- I've seen so many websites fail because their designs look like somebody from class 9 built them using basic HTML and CSS.
Now I'm not saying that HTML and CSS are not powerful. These are great tools, and they can build stunning websites, but only when used correctly with a proper design. In many cases, these B2B website managers, owners, and decision makers don’t seem to be investing in a designer, instead they only hire a website developer and get the design made from him.
If that’s you, I’d suggest watching this video by Russel Brunson- this will give you a good idea of why your website design can not be random template!
2. the absent founder
So often I see B2B founders walking around in their business suits, trying to hide behind the brand name and only making special appearances on sales calls.
Yes, that is a type of persona that can work for your brand when it has already achieved the enterprise status. But, before that, you need to be seen again and again and again and again by your target group- so they know that you, your awesome product or service, a perfect solution to their problem, and your stunning team exists.
This is also a great time for creating founder led content for Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and your website’s blog. By not participating in the content creation process for your own business, you will starve your brand of-
- having a real voice
- presenting authentic, high value knowledge to the audience
- defining a strong brand personality that develops absolute fans, neutral followers, and haters (trust me, they will all be in your business’ favor)
- being able to provide utmost value to the audience- which also lowers your chances of appearing higher in the SERPs (and honestly, if you are not providing the best value to your audience through real content, it’s futile to also bother about rankings right now).
3. you are not targeting your tg (or you don’t know your tg)
Every successful business owner, business coach, marketing manager, marketing specialist I’ve heard has concluded this one thing, and I am learning to live by it!-
“If you are selling to everyone, you are not selling to anyone!”
And this is so true- the goal of running a B2B business is not to invite anyone and everyone into your world and give them whatever they want. It is to build a solution to a major business problem and then be able to reach more and more of these business owners who are struggling to overcome that problem.
If you are able to do that, you can achieve business success. If you are struggling to do that- sit down, pick up a pen and paper and start writing-
- what are the top three functions of your product or service?
- do these functions solve a specific problem?
- if yes, what problem do they solve? if no, how can you modify your product so it solves a problem? once you figure that out, start writing about what problems your newly modified product solves!
- now find a couple of businesses who you can solve this problem for and if it all goes well, your job will be to connect with more such business owners and offer them your stellar solution!
However, if it does not go as planned, you can go back to the drawing board and find out where you went wrong → correct it → implement again.
This will give you a thorough understanding of who your target people are, what they want to know about, how you can educate them towards your product, how your product can solve their problem to perfection, what they like to listen and learn more around, and what you must never talk to them about.
There you have, hundreds of blog ideas that you can now upload on your website to attract your target group without confusing your readers and the search bots!
4. your SEO process stopped receiving updates after 2017
While many business owners in 2026 keep themselves up-to-date with the latest SEO practices, I hear many founders split between two extreme opinions-
- SEO is dead- “now after AI, SEO is surely dead.” And I’ve been hearing this for more than 10 years now. Every year SEO dies a new death and every year Google invests more into optimizing its search algorithms to be able to present the best, most relevant, and most straight-forward information to its users.
- Keywords + backlinks = SEO- I know some of us feel this statement stinks (believe me, if it wasn’t necessary to talk about this, I would delete this pointer forever), but it still holds true in many cases. Working with business owners and marketing managers on a day-to-day basis, I still come across professionals who ask my team to create 5,000 words long blog posts with more and more keywords linked to the title. These are also the people who judge the quality of a backlink solely based on the host website’s DA, and if that’s not enough- they’d go on building backlinks in bulk, hoping to magically rule the searches.
With these pointers acting as your SEO fundamentals, your website is destined to not rank.
Instead, the appropriate approach is to define your target group, and start posting blogs about the information they may be interested in learning or the problems they may want to solve. That’s also what I am doing with this blog post- talking straight to the people who are wondering why their B2B site is not ranking on Google!
Now, while some of you may not read this blog to this point, some of you may do it but not take action, and then there will be a lot that will be curios to find out more about their website and take my free SEO audit or book a strategy call with me!
5. you take networking opportunities for granted
There was a time when my biggest fear was having to ask someone for a favor and that stopped me from even starting conversations with potential customers. As a result of that, I would meet people, befriend them, have a great time together, but never ask for a favor- even if I knew they can do it and they’d be down for doing it for me.
Does that ring a bell for you?
As business owners, we meet so many people with their businesses in our industry- this is not only a networking opportunity, this can very well turn out to be a great marketing, link building, brand strengthening, and content opportunity.
Even if you don’t sell to the person or vice versa, you both can contribute to each others’ businesses by being open for a podcast together, or authoring a blog post together, or by simply collaborating on Instagram Reels, or even better- getting them to talk about you or your product on their personal blog (or website).
And trust me, 8 out of 10 people will probably turn you down- but why should that scare you? The 2 that say yes may give you great opportunities and exposures to their customers (of course if you are selling a different product that acts as an add on to what they are selling).
So, have the audacity and make your ask!
For now, this is all. Before you set your goal at ranking higher in Google search, it’s important to thoroughly understand your ideal customer group and create content for it. If you answer real problems that your ICP is searching Google for, and if those answers are practical and helpful, you will have way more chances of being seen by your ICP, rather than when you spend hours finding low-hanging keywords and create robotic content around them. See you soon!
